Importance of ICT

Technology continues to be referred to as a transformative presence in the world.   While changing the way individuals live, interact, and work, ICT has also proven to be a key precondition for enhanced competitiveness and economic and societal modernization, as well as an important instrument for bridging economic and social divides and reducing poverty.     "The Global Information Technology Report 2010-2011”, World Economic Forum, April 2011   Given the important role that technology plays, and its profound socio-economic achievements, it is vital that the Department of E-Commerce continues to undertake initiatives that encourage the adoption of ICT in Bermuda.
